Succeeding in Export Markets

This Forum focused on exporting. GETBA members heard from Sir Ken Stevens, Charles Sampson and Peter Rowe. They learned what assistance is available to help NZ exporters succeed in overseas markets and how to address any risks and concerns they had.

Panellists:

Sir Ken Stevens, Chairman of Glidepath Limited & Export New Zealand.  Sir Ken started exporting in 1978 and is now one of the world’s key players in baggage handling systems with over 900 systems installed in 68 countries. Sir Ken was knighted in 2009 for Services to Exporting.  Sir Ken is the 15th Flying Kiwi to be inducted into the Hi-Tech Hall of Fame and in 2019 won the Westpac Auckland Supreme Business Excellence Award as well as the Excellence in Innovation Award.

Peter Rowe, Head of Business Origination, Treasury’s NZ Export Credit (NZEC).  Peter’s team works with banks to help their export clients address risks and concerns that keep them awake at night including mitigating repayment risk, securing export sales and finance terms and accessing trade finance.

Charles Sampson, Sales Manager, National Credit Insurance (NCI).  NCI is a specialist broker in the trade credit insurance field, working with a vast range of clients throughout New Zealand and Australia providing insurance and advice across a wide range of industries.
